About

I’m Alejandro, a developer specialised in web applications. I started building my own websites when I was 16. Four of them get more than 80,000 visits a month. Others didn’t succeed, but they were a way to learn and gain valuable experience.

When I was 19 and finishing my Higher National Diploma in Software Application Development, I did my internship in Cork (Ireland). My work was very well received and I was offered a permanent remote position. I worked there for 5 years as a Full Stack developer using Codeigniter and Laravel. That’s where I learned about continuous integration and software project management, and worked alongside other developers and designers. I stayed until the company closed.

I combined work with my studies. I first studied English Studies at the University of Málaga, where I went deeper into Linguistics and Natural Language Processing. It also let me spend a year in California as an exchange student (in the San Francisco Bay Area). That experience let me soak up the startup culture of the area, and it motivated me to study Computer Engineering afterwards.

For three months I had to catch up on all the high-school maths I had long forgotten, to reach the level needed for the Mathematical Foundations of Computer Engineering course, with the added difficulty of doing it through UNED, a distance-learning university (no in-person classes and no classmates).

After coming back from California I started working with a former client of my previous company. That turned into a fruitful working relationship in which I serve as CTO of three companies. In this role I’ve expanded my skills as a devops engineer, since I’m responsible for the whole technical infrastructure. I also learned Typescript + Ionic + Angular for mobile app development, and since then I’ve published 5 apps on the App Store and Google Play.

Alongside my professional and academic experience, I’ve always been especially interested in entrepreneurship. I launched projects such as envía currículum o wordexample. I was also part of two different startups: one in language processing and another in finding young talent.
